Bottles, bowls, columns, domes, wheels. Draw the outline once and it revolves into a surface.
The useful trick is that the outline's distance from the axis is a radius, so a profile that starts away from the axis leaves a hole down the middle, already round and already clean. A washer, a flange, a grommet or a porthole needs no cutting.
Stopping short of a full turn leaves it open, which is how you get an arch barrel or a niche.
