Nothing moves and nothing is added, so this costs nothing at export. Flat shows every face, which is the low-poly look. Smooth blends across all of them.

By Angle is the one worth knowing: it blends only where faces meet gently, so a swept tube reads as continuous while the junction where a branch leaves it stays crisp. That is what you want on anything grown or swept.

Parameters

NameTypeDefaultAvailable whenWhat it does
Modeflat | smooth | angleflatalways
Anglenumber30Mode is angle

1 of these 2 parameters only apply in some settings. The Available when column says which.

Watch out

It works within each piece, so it cannot smooth across the seam between two joined parts. Weld them first if the seam should disappear.
